Blogging has always been something I did out of passion. How else could I whip it out of my system if it’s what keeps me sane amidst the crazy engineering life? Starting this blog never took off smoothly. However, I still took pride in curating my blog as much as others who painstakingly commit their time into beautifying their Instagram feeds. My blog was simply a creative outlet where I share all things food and travel-related. I take photos because I enjoy it. I write my thoughts because I like doing it.

Chasing Bleu - Cebu Food Blog BCBA 2016 Finalist

Juggling the blog among everything else

food-travel-blog-bcba-2016-finalistMany people have told me that it’s already a feat that I discovered and pursued blogging at such an early age. Likewise, people have been telling me how the course that I’m currently taking up in college paves a different path to blogging.

It was hard to juggle at first because I had to concentrate on my studies. Later on, when I couldn’t manage everything at once, I had to stop for a month to get myself back on track with academics. Not only that, but I also have a flourishing freelance career wherein my entire tuition money depended on. I’m not one to ask my parents for college money since we’re strapped for cash due to my siblings going simultaneously to school.

chasing-bleu-bcba-2016-finalistI still pursued blogging, no matter what. In the end, it’s just all about managing your time right and prioritizing on the goals that matter most.

But, I never expected this blog to receive nominations for some awards. Last year, Chasing Bleu also made it to the Top 5 of Best Cebu Food Blog Awards 2015 and Bloggys PH 2015 – Lifestyle & Hobbies Category – so thank you for that!

This year, one of the most prestigious awards in Cebu has recognized this blog again for the second time.

The 9th Best Cebu Blogs Awards 2016

bcba2016-onlineposterThis is the most anticipated awards night especially for Cebuano bloggers. Best Cebu Blogs Awards is now in its 9th year – and a lot has changed up to this point.

Cebu bloggers are now more mature, innovative, and creative. We have blogging organizations that have structures to keep things aligned with its members. Now, I could proudly say, that we are better than ever.

Therefore, this post is not particularly all for me, but for the bloggers who keep the Cebu blogging scene alive. For the bloggers who promote Cebu for what it is – full of wonders and beauty. For the bloggers who dedicated themselves, despite working on 9-to-5 jobs or taking up fully-loaded classes in school, to be better in their crafts.

Yes, this is for you, too. Congratulations — nominated or not — for being a blogger of Cebu!

And to my readers, whether you just stumbled upon this Cebu food + travel blog while searching for a review about a particular restaurant or merely passing by to enjoy my articles, I am grateful. For without you, I wouldn’t reach this far. 🙂

Lastly, I’d also like to thank our generous sponsors for making this event possible:

  1. I always advise people who are active on Facebook to take up blogging. The young , particularly must take this form of creative expression. But have you tried podcasting? If not then you must!

  2. Congratulations! I’m happy for you. Yes, even if you are doing something purely for passion, it’s nice to get awards or nominations for them as well. These are great rewards for the hard work that you put in. They are also encouraging to keep on giving your best.

  3. Congratulations on the success of your blog. I used to have a lot of time to blog when I was still a college student and now that I’m working, I find it hard to juggle my time. There are times when I get off work early but feel really tired to do anything when I get home. I also blogged out of passion but I find it hard to manage my blog as of the moment. I only get to post once a week now or sometimes even once in two weeks, which isn’t really my ideal blogging timeline. Reading your post makes me feel like I can do it. If others can, then I can as well. I just need a little push, a little motivation to work it out. The first few paragraphs of your post really helped me a lot, and I want to thank you for it. Thank you. 🙂

  4. It was never easy to keep a blog running and to add it to multitude of things you have to juggle, that is why I find it commendable when bloggers find the time to update their blogs regularly ’cause honestly I just can’t sometimes! 😀

Congratulations on your nomination, I sure hope you get to bring home the award. Accolades or not, I guess the real reward in blogging comes in doing something that we absolutely love doing! 🙂

  5. Oh wow!
Congratulations! As a blogger (though not from Cebu), it makes me happy to see someone with a wonderful blog such as yours get nominated for such a sought-after award! I wish you luck in balancing all of your priorities and tasks, and am looking forward to reading more of your posts! 🙂

  6. Congratulations Mimi! Your blog has a fantastic design, and I love it. I am a newbie in blogging. I don’t know yet much about the designing aspect, but I am on my way for that one. I believe that through constant researching and studying, I can also make my blog an outstanding one like yours. Thanks for inspiring your readers.
