Ampersand Cebu Restaurant: A Rustic Fine Dining

Ampersand Cebu Fine Dining Restaurant Food Review - Chasing Bleu

Nestled among the clusters of food and lifestyle shops in Banilad Town Center, Ampersand Cebu stood there in a charming rustic country farm vibe to offer a selection of exquisite food and beverages. This new dining spot in Cebu has three concepts: a restaurant, bar, and deli. With its elegant exterior of old wood and bricks, people are certainly piqued at this fantastic foodie destination.

We went to eat at Ampersand Cebu Restaurant during lunch time, where the restaurant was pretty much quiet without the throng of diners. Inside, you’ll find a bar filled with cute jars and shelves of wines and drinks. A waiter waits behind the countertop.

… a charming rustic country farm vibe to offer a selection of exquisite food and beverages.

Our eyes immediately landed on the sign at the center that says, “Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.” My mind had to process its meaning before shrugging off this kind of joke. There are dashing lights hung over the countertop where drunken merrymaking evidently happens. It’s a nice spot to chill if you’re hanging out with just a buddy or two and hope to weave an intimate conversation.

My guy and I celebrated our 4th anniversary on the day we dined here at Ampersand Cebu. It took a lot of persistence since he was a bit skeptical with the prices we saw online, but he conceded after browsing through the entire restaurant setup.

We sat on a white cushioned chair with a wooden table between us and a chandelier hovering over our heads, making the atmosphere more romantic. While their chef prepared our orders in their open show kitchen, we talked. We gave assessments about school so far and the upcoming midterm. We marveled at the fact that we’d come this far in our relationship. It wasn’t particularly a cheesy conversation – just one that’s full of anticipation.

To say the least, I loved the ambiance here. It could be a nice place to spend with a significant other or hang out with long-time buddies or family. The country vibe is everywhere – even the little corner where the desserts are held captive. It’s a not-so-odd mix of rustic and sophistication, which already says something.

Bestsellers in Ampersand Cebu

There is a wide array of food in the menu that you can find at Ampersand, so we decided to try some of their bestsellers. Quite honestly, the prices were a bit much for a typical stingy person’s budget. However, since it was a special occasion, we justified the reasons in going there.

Ampersand Cebu Restaurant Spicy Chicken - Chasing Bleu

Marnel had the Spicy Chicken Wings, a plateful of buffalo wings dribbled with lemon-garlic siracha. He derived into a conclusion that while it was savory and he wanted to eat another round of it, the serving was not enough to satiate his appetite.

Mine was, of course, my usual safe order in most restaurants that I go to. The Smoked Baby Back Ribs was a delicious piece of meat filled with tenderness. Paired with the herb vegetable rice and corn, this juicy ribs just melt in your mouth with a burst of flavors.

For their drinks, well, upon a glance at the Ampersand Cebu bar, you can certainly choose from their many selections. A refreshing drink was in order after walking up a distance to arrive here at BTC, so we had their Calamansi Juice. If you’re a fan of extremely sour drinks, then this one is for you. As for us, we were dismayed with our choice, but nonetheless, a minty coolness was compelling enough for us to enjoy it.

Ampersand Cebu Restaurant Fresh Juice Drinks - Chasing Bleu

Much of their gastronomic offerings are specialties worth trying, if not for the price unfit for stingy people like me. Nonetheless, there are fantastic choices; your tongue will never go dull. Their menu ranges from soups, salads, appetizers, rustic pizzas, burgers, meat, and chicken.

As for drinks, they have assortments like coffee, soft drinks, fresh juices, beers, signature cocktails, and imported beers. Seeing as their selections could go beyond what you may fancy, there’s no wrong in trying one!

At the end of our lengthy lunch, I pondered how many pounds I’d gained since a year ago when I was just starting out this food blog. Perhaps, ten kilos wouldn’t be an overestimation, but regardless of that, no regrets! They say it wasn’t true love if neither of you got fat – well, I am a testimony of that. LOL 😉

    3. I was eyeing this restaurant out as well. Thank you for the quick and honest review about the place. It looks cozy enough for a small and intimate group. I guess if the restaurant is located in BTC, I would exactly expect a not-so-friendly price range but we always get what we paid for. 🙂

    7. It’s my first time to hear about this. Well, it’s been a year since the last time I visited banilad so I guess, I haven’t spent enough time that much at the area. Anyhow, this place looks interesting. I also like their entree available on their menu. quite pricey nga lang. 🙂

    9. Years ago, I would travel to Cebu once or twice a month because of work. And I would like to question myself and others who tour me again and again — why didnt we visit this diner. The place is so warm and inviting. Spending time and eating here after a tiring work would surely make those trips more memorable. Anyway, past is past. I hope I be able to visit Cebu again and I will definitely go here.
